It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Williamson, age 85, a longtime resident of Nanuet, New York, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on November 7, 2025.
Richard was born on January 10, 1940, in the Bronx, New York. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Amphion from 1958 to 1962.
In 1969, Richard joined the New York City Fire Department. Throughout his career, he served in Ladder 17, Ladder 37, Ladder 36, and Ladder 51. He retired as a Captain in 1994. Richard earned a degree in Fire Science from Mercy College, graduating in 1985.
On October 31, 1970 he married Alice Kerrigan at Holy Spirit Church in the Bronx, NY.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Alice Kerrigan Williamson; his children, Christopher (Denise) of Monroe, New York, and Erin Armstrong (Matthew) of Toms River, New Jersey; and his six cherished grandchildren: Connor, Olivia, Sean, Zachary, Liam, and Brandon.
He is predeceased by his parents, Florence and Samuel Williamson; his brother, Charles Williamson; and his sister, Barbara Ryan.
Richard enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his devotion to family and his dedication to service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visiting will be held at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 12, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 13, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet, New York, with burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery.
