In Loving Memory of Charles Urbane Fillmore Chase September 16, 1950 – November 1, 2025
With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life shaped by quiet strength and enduring faith, the family of Charles U. F. Chase celebrates his homegoing and the peaceful rest he has now found.
Born on September 16, 1950, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, to the late Dulcina Chase, Charles's journey began on the beautiful Caribbean island where his love of family and community first took root. He spent several formative years in Montserrat, British West Indies, before migrating to the United States at the age of twelve, where he settled with his mother in the Parkchester section of the Bronx, New York. There he grew up surrounded by faith, family, and the rhythms of city life.
Charles pursued his education with determination and grace, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Mercy College. He later served honorably in the United States Army, a season of service that reflected his lifelong commitment to discipline, humility, and purpose.
A man of many passions, Charles found joy in photography and in exploring the wonders of the galaxy. He knew the stars by name and could speak of their patterns with the same fascination he showed when capturing life through his camera lens. Yet, his greatest devotion was reading his Bible. Whether in quiet conversation or moments of reflection, Charles naturally spoke of faith and hope, often leaving others encouraged and uplifted.
Even through years marked by illness, Charles's faith never wavered. His caregivers often spoke of his gentle spirit, easy smile, and genuine warmth. No matter the circumstances, he carried an unshakable peace, a reflection of the light of Christ within him.
Charles entered eternal rest on November 1, 2025, in Nanuet, New York, at the age of 75.
He is survived by his devoted sister Gloria Chase; his nieces and nephews; and several cherished grand-nieces and grand-nephews and cousins. He is also lovingly remembered by his cousin Monica Pittman, with whom she and Gloria shared many fond memories as children growing up and later during Charles' return visits to Montserrat, British West Indies.
Charles will be remembered for his generosity, curiosity, and unwavering kindness. A man who lived not for recognition, but with quiet resolve and faith in the journey that was meant for him. His path on this earth came to a peaceful end, yet his light continues to shine in the lives he touched.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."- 2 Timothy 4:7
