Peter Paradise, a beacon of joy and adventure, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on August 5, 1946, in New Rochelle, NY, to Peter and Florence "Dolly" Paradise (Gerloff), he lived a life marked by laughter and love.
A proud graduate of New Rochelle High School's class of 1965, Peter furthered his education at Mercy College where he earned a bachelor's degree. His quest for knowledge didn't stop there; he went on to receive a master's degree from Long Island University in 1987. Peter's intellectual pursuits were matched only by his commitment to his nation; he joined the US Air Force in 1966, serving with distinction and honor.
Peter's heart found its match when he met and married the love of his life, Connie Bone, on Valentine's Day in 1970. Their love story began while he was stationed in the Philippines, and it continued to blossom throughout their lives together. After his military service, Peter embarked on a successful career with the New York Telephone company, where he dedicated 24 years before retiring from NYNEX in 1994. Never one to remain idle, he enjoyed a second career at Kohl's in Brewster and imparted his wisdom to young drivers at the Golden Crown Driving School for over a decade.
An avid Yankees fan, Peter's interests were as diverse as his skills. He was passionate about music, playing his guitar and singing at family gatherings, accompanied by his brother, Don. Bowling was a shared activity with Connie and they bowled together weekly for many years. He loved taking last-minute road trips whether it was packing the car and heading to the beach or taking the train down to the city with his grandson to "grab a cannoli." He was an avid grower; if it had a seed or pit, he would plant it – peppers, herbs and even several tropical fruit trees. His culinary talents were no secret, especially when he hosted his annual family barbeque, an event that became a cherished tradition. He enjoyed reminiscing and sharing stories with his grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play sports, enduring the cold in a hockey rink or the heat on a baseball field to see them in action.
Family was the center of Peter's universe, and he is survived by his beloved wife Connie; his daughter Rachael and her husband Michael; his brother Donald; sister Diana; his namesake grandson Peter; granddaughter Josephine; several wonderful in-laws; and many adoring nieces and nephews and friends who were like family. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph and sister Florence, but the legacy of his love and laughter will live on through those who knew him.
Peter's story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved. His memory will be treasured as a source of comfort and inspiration, a reminder to embrace each day with the same zest and humor he did. Though he has set off on his final adventure, the echoes of his laughter and the warmth of his presence will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
