Richard Winters Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maiorano Funeral Home - Waterbury on Feb. 3, 2026.
RICHARD WINTERS, SR.

Richard T. Winters, Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in the comfort of his home. He was the devoted husband of Roberta (Rinaldi) Winters.

Born on June 6, 1940, in Waterbury, Rich proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. Rich worked for Pratt & Whitney for more than 25 years, retiring as a foreman after a dedicated and accomplished career.

An admirer of nature, Rich found great joy in feeding the birds and planting and nurturing flowers in his yard. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time on the water boating with friends. Rich also had a love for shopping and was a true Christmas enthusiast who adored the holiday season.

Along with his beloved wife, Roberta, Rich enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories together. He was especially proud of his 1947 Indian Chief motorcycle. A devoted dog lover, Rich shared his life with many dogs over the years, with a special fondness for cairn terriers.

In addition to Roberta, his wife of 12 years, Rich is survived by his stepson Richard DiFelice, his sons Shawn Winters, Thomas Winters, Robert Winters, and Richard Winters, Jr. He also leaves several grandchildren and his step-grandson Richard DiFelice.

All services will be held at a later date to be determined. Maiorano Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements. For additional information, to sign the online guestbook, or to leave an online condolence, please visit maioranofuneralhome.com.
