Nicholas Lorusso Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maiorano Funeral Home - Waterbury on Feb. 27, 2026.
Nicholas D. LoRusso, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Bernadette (Chung) LoRusso.

Born in Waterbury, on December 13, 1934, Nick was the son of the late Daniel and Carmella "Nellie" (Nardozzi) LoRusso. He was a proud graduate of Leavenworth High School, Class of 1953, and went on to attend the University of Connecticut. Nick honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1955.

Nick built a distinguished career, serving as an Administrative Manager and Administrative Director with Pratt & Whitney, Digital Equipment Corporation, Price Waterhouse & Co., and KPMG Peat Marwick. He was a charter member of The Administrative Manager Society and was proud to be a Certified Disaster Recovery Consultant. Though his career often required extensive commuting and travel, Nick was happiest when he returned home to his family.

Nick is survived by his daughters, Donna Gunia and her husband Richard of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Janet Frenis and her husband Stephen of Waterbury. He also leaves his grandchildren Dr. Katelyn Frenis of Boston, MA, Kristen Frenis of Southington, and Nicholas Gunia and his wife Amanda of Philadelphia, PA as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his second wife Barbara Papas, his brother Donald LoRusso, and his sister Kathleen DelDebbio.

Nick's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to his caregiver, Lori Daniels, for the outstanding care, compassion, and friendship she shared with him throughout her time by his side. The family would also like to acknowledge the friendship and support of Nick's Wednesday night pizza guys.

Nick's funeral Mass will held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. S, Southbury. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. For more information, to sign the online guestbook, or to leave online condolences for the family, please visit maioranofuneralhome.com.
