Richard Wrubbel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shimon Funeral Home on Dec. 11, 2025.
Wishing to be reunited with his wife Ruth who passed away on December 7, 2025, Richard (Dick) Wrubbel died on December 10, 2025, after living with Multiple Sclerosis for over 60 years.
Richard was born in Milwaukee on October 13, 1936, to Frank and Clara Wrubbel (nee Goetz). During his childhood Richard enjoyed spending time with his extended family on their farms. He graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee in June of 1954. He served in the 32nd Infantry Division in the Army National Guard of WI during the Cold War.
Richard and Ruth Wrubbel were married on October 11, 1958, at Incarnation Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Milwaukee. The couple celebrated their 67th Anniversary in October of this year. Richard was a member of Stone Bank Lion's Club for over 40 years, holding a variety of leadership positions and serving as Tail Twister. Despite his health challenges he spent each summer volunteering at the Lions 4th of July Brat Fry. He was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In his spare time, he was a beekeeper and an avid woodworker. Richard enjoyed making wooden toys, decorations, furnishings, and lamps for his children and grandchildren to enjoy. He was also his children's first call for help for all things mechanical.
His sense of humor was like no other: He loved making up and using funny words and phrases with a twinkle in his eye-these have been recorded in The Grandpa Dicktionary.
Richard will be sadly missed by his children Julie Wrubbel-Lange (Larry Lange), Paul Wrubbel, Karen Wrubbel-Kunschke (Jason), grandchildren John Wrubbel, Katherine Lange, Noah Lange (Justina), Elizabeth Lange, Clare Kunschke, Tessa Ruth Kunschke, great-grandchildren Jackson and Carmen Wrubbel, and another on the way, brother Allen (Lauran) Wrubbel, sister Linda Wrubbel, nieces and nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-and mother-in-law Edward and Anna Pirwitz, his sister-in-law Carol Jean Moyle, infant son Todd, and granddaughter Sarah Wrubbel.
Richard's family is grateful for the caring staff of Cedar Community for their compassion and care.
There will be a joint visitation for Richard and Ruth on Wednesday December 17th from 9:30am-11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stone Bank WI. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with burial and lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers monetary donations can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery Association.
