On July 16, 1951, Richard Edward Yancey was born unto both the late James and Milo Yancey. On April 11, 2024, the Angel of Death called his name, and he answered while at Doctors Hospital.
Richard believed in Jesus and loved to sing and listen to his Gospel songs. He loved his family and friends. When he was the center of attention, he entertained us with his jokes
and sarcasm at all family gatherings. Richard got credit for 12 years of schooling, but as
he would tell it at every family gathering "he went to school for thirteen years because he had to walk his big brother, William Yancey to school because William was afraid of the mules that they encountered along the way." Richard was gainfully employed at Thermo King in Louisville, GA for 38 years. He joined the Springfield AME Church of Stapleton, GA at an early age until he relocated to Augusta, GA where he became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and later with Word of Deliverance.
Richard leaves to mourn and cherish his beautiful memories: a loving wife, Shelia Roberts Yancey of Augusta, GA; four children, Rischey Yancey of Atlanta, GA, Tuere Sheppard, Richard E. Yancey, II and Donteice Yancey, all of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Andreonia Sheppard of Augusta, GA, Donovan Crawford of Statesboro, GA, and Dayla Yancey of Keysville, GA; four bonus children, Satone Anthony, Broderick Heath, Sr., Nastashia Bailey and DeAundre Harrison, all of Augusta, GA; seven bonus grandchildren, BriAnna, AriAnna, JoHanna, Broderick Heath, Jr., Christian Anthony, Braylon and Mason Samuels, all of Augusta, GA; A Special God daughter, Jo" Pep" Burt (Waynesboro); two sisters, Arvenia Yancey Brown and Mary Alice (Bunyan) Shields, both of Wrens, GA; five brothers, William Yancey,Artis Yancey, both of Wrens, GA, Herman (Mary) Yancey of Louisville GA, Brinson (Dr. Apostle Saketha) Yancey of Sandersville, GA and Kerry(Carolyn) Yancey of Augusta, GA; eleven additional sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carolyn (Rev.
