Richard A. Zimny, 80, Moorhead, MN, died Monday, January 1, 2024, at his residence under care of Hospice.

Richard was born February 17, 1943, in Chicago, IL to Frank and Clara (Jelen) Zimny.  He was married in 1966 and divorced in 1990 and from this union, three daughters were born.

Richard enlisted with the United States Air Force on March 16, 1961.  He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on March 15, 1965.  While with the Air Force, Richard worked as a computer operator.  When he completed his military duties, Richard worked as a semi driver and in sales of heavy equipment.

Since the early 1990’s, Richard battled mental health issues.  He did not live an easy life, but he had an invincible spirit.  During the last decade of his life, Richard received care from Tranquility Place and Connections.   He participated as a greeter at church and really enjoyed the conversations and connections he made.   He always had wonderful compliments for the care he was receiving and friendships he was making.

The family would like to thank Catrina, Michelle and the entire staff at Tranquility Place and Connections, for the care they gave Richard, allowing him to have a good quality of life in his last years.

Richard is survived by three daughters; one son-in-law; eight grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren
