Richie Adkins, 65, of Coventry Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully September 6, 2024. Richie was born on January 25, 1959 to Elster and Carol (Coleman) Adkins in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Richie was an avid car enthusiast, he was always repairing or restoring cars for his friends. He loved watching or attending any type of auto racing.
Deeper than his love for cars, was Richie's love for his family. His love will always be felt by his three children and 6 grandchildren. He was lovingly named Popo by his grandkids. They were the reason he woke up every morning.
Richie is survived by his sons, Richard (Malissa K.) and David (Samantha K.) Adkins, and daughter, Kristina (Gerald) Altizer, his grandchildren Drew, Madison, Nevaeh, Mackenzie, Alexis, and Gabriel; mother, Carol Adkins and brother Kent (Terry). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and former wife, Michele.
Richie was preceded in death by his father, Elster, grandparents, Hastie and Elmer Coleman, Perry and Brooksie Adkins, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to send out a special thank you to two of his friends/nurses that made it possible for Richie to stay in his home during his illness, Toni Gregory and Mallory Hunt. You two had a special place in Richie's heart.
A Celebration of Life will take place September 25th, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Firestone Park United Methodist Church, 250 N Firestone Blvd., Akron 44301
