Joseph Ricky Cooper, known affectionately as Rick, passed away on August 31, 2024, in Hudson, Colorado, at the age of 70. Born on October 5, 1953 in Denver, Colorado, Rick lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a spirited personality that made him the life of the party.
Rick proudly served in the Coast Guard from 1972 to 1976, a period during which he contributed with honor and dedication to his country. His service years were a significant chapter in his life, reflecting his commitment and resilience.
Beyond his military service, Rick was passionate about the outdoors, finding solace and joy in hunting and fishing. These hobbies were not just pastimes but a reflection of his love for nature and the tranquility it offered.
Rick leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his wife, Marilyn Cooper; children Melanie (Jerald) Whisenton, Heather (Julio) Corral, Victoria Cooper, Nicholas (Maribel) Cooper, grandchildren, Anthony Whisenton, Antwone Whisenton, Donavan Corral, and Delilah Corral; along with three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Norma Cooper, and his sister, Linda Plucker.
The memorial service will be held at Newcomers Funeral Home in Aurora, CO, on September 11 at 2:00 pm, where family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Rick are welcome to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life.
