Rick Kiesel, a cherished soul whose legacy is as vibrant as the lives he touched, was born on March 3, 1951, in Evansville, IN, and passed away on September 3, 2025, in Newburgh, IN. His journey on earth was marked by unwavering love, selfless dedication, and a passion that illuminated the paths of many.

Rick's life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit. He graduated from Haubstadt High School and soon after began a career that showcased his meticulous craftsmanship. Before taking pride in his work at UPS, Rick painted homes, leaving his mark on the Historical Homes in Downtown Evansville. His talent with a brush was renowned, and even after retirement, he continued to paint, including the notable Blue Bridge on Highway 41.

But beyond his professional achievements, Rick's personal accomplishments were the true measure of the man. A devoted husband to Debra for 18 beautiful years, he was a loving father to Shayna Dixon, with her partner Zach Elliott, and Jessica Kiesel-Finney, alongside her spouse Ryan Finney. His role as a stepfather to Haley, Jeremy, with his wife Gennifer, and Jordan Willis was embraced with the same warmth and love as if they were his own. The joy of his life multiplied with each grandchild-Austin Butcher, Logan Dixon (Jordan), and Hannah Nance with her spouse Kaden, and Lila Finney-and great-grandchildren, Hayden and Lily Butcher. Rick's siblings-Joe, Danny, Sue with her husband Tom, Shirley with her husband Bob, Connie with her husband Russell, Bug with her spouse Les, and Mary with her husband Mark-held special places in his heart, as he did in theirs. Preceding Rick were his beloved parents Ivan and Mary Lou Kiesel along with his two brothers, Jerry and Tommy.

Rick's journey was one of transformation and triumph. He earned a 34-year coin from AA for sobriety, an accolade that spoke volumes of his relentless pursuit of personal growth. His love for the St. Louis Cardinals was matched only by his passion for softball, where he not only played the game but lived its lessons of teamwork and resilience.

The great outdoors was Rick's sanctuary, where he would often be found fishing or simply watching birds, reveling in the tranquility of nature. These moments of solitude were balanced by the joy he found in the company of his family, making memories that would become their treasures.

Rick was a man of love, selflessness, and passion. His life was a beacon of hope, showing us all that it is possible to rise above challenges and live a life filled with purpose and joy. His legacy is not one of mere existence, but of a life well-lived and loved-a life that inspired others to cherish every moment and embrace the beauty of their journey.

As we reflect on Rick's life, let us carry forward the light he shone so brightly. Let his memory be a guide to us all, reminding us to live with love, to give selflessly, and to pursue our passions with the fervor that he did. Rick Kiesel's story does not end here; it is etched in the lives of those he loved and will continue to inspire generations to come
