Sonya Faye (Gander) Weiss, 79, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

Sonya was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 30, 1945 to the late Kenneth and Opal (Croslow) Gander. She graduated from Reitz High School and was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ German Township. For many years, Sonya worked alongside her husband running their real estate family business. She enjoyed making ceramics, fishing, traveling and celebrating the holiday's with her family. She loved all animals and always had a pet by her side. Sonya and Jerry were married for 52 wonderful years. She loved and cared for Jerry until his passing in 2017. Sonya will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Sonya is survived by her sons, Timothy Weiss (Tonya) of Danville, IN and Aaron Weiss (Kim) of Huntingburg, IN; sister, Tammy Croslow; grandchildren, Hannah (Cory), Rebecca, Zachariah, Jade and Kera; great grandchildren, Addison and Amelia Kirwan; sisters-in-law, Donna Gander and Susan Weiss; brothers-in-law, Joe Weiss and Wayne Weiss; and by many nieces and nephews.

Sonya was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Allen Weiss; her parents; brother, Terry Gander; and by her sister-in-law, Janice Weiss.

A celebration of Sonya's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ German Township, 8701 Big Cynthiana Rd.,Evansville, IN 47720 with Rev. Terry farmer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's United Church of Christ German Township Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to It Takes A Village, 1417 Stockwell Rd., Evansville, IN 47715.
