Richard D. Lewis, age 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic Hospice in Akron, Ohio. Born on October 23, 1954, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of Edward and Rosalie (nee Servitelli) Lewis.
Richard, or "Rick" as he was known to family and friends, graduated from Vermilion High School in 1975. Shortly after, on October 27, 1975, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, until his honorable discharge on October 27, 1978.
Rick was employeed at Ford, spending 31 years at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant, followed by 2 years at the Avon Ford Assembly Plant before retiring in 2007.
In retirement, Rick found solace in the unconditional love of his grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and inspiration for him. His love for music was another source of peace, as was his profound personal relationship with God.
Rick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Denise (nee Lauter) Lewis; his children, Sherrie (Lewis) Mayer of Louisville, KY, Rick (Leslie) Lewis of Olmsted Falls, OH, and Cody (Brittany) Lewis of Lorain, OH; his cherished grandchildren, Brinklie Mayer, AJ Mathis, Rileigh, Teagan, and Hailey Lewis; and great-grandson, Taylin Calhoun. He also leaves behind his siblings, Bill (Linda) Lewis of Mogadore, OH, Ed (Chris) Lewis of Cement City, MI, Carol (Gil) Cantey of Warrenton, VA, and Jim (Jean) Lewis of Tacoma, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Rosalie Lewis, as well as his brothers, David and George Lewis.
In keeping with Rick's wishes, there will be no formal services or memorials. Family and friends are encouraged to remember him in their own personal ways. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.dovinreberjones.com.
Rick will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. May he rest in peace.
