Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Charles Richard "Rick" Moore Sr., age 77, of Wadley, who died Thursday morning, November 28, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in the St. John's Methodist Church with Rev. Chad Watkins officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in the Church Cemetery. Men proudly serving as Pallbearers are CJ Story, Chase Moore, Ty Moore, Gabe Privett, William Colley and Colton York. Rick was born February 5, 1947, at his family home in Wadley, a son of the late James Layton Moore and Jeanette Price Moore. He was a graduate of Wadley High School and attended Swainsboro Tech where he studied to become an electrician. Rick was drafted into the US Army in 1967. He was involved in an accident causing him to become severely burned and unable to continue his military career and was medically discharged in 1969. He returned home after much physical therapy and worked for Mr. Billy Weeks at Weeks Electric. In the 1990's he owned and operated a gas station in Wadley. Throughout his life he farmed. Summers and freezers were full of fresh peas, butter beans, okra, tomatoes, squash and silver queen corn. All of which he planted. In the fall the family took part in making sugar cane syrup from the cane that he planted. He was a jack of all trades and could do just about anything you needed him to do from fixing a car to driving the school bus. His greatest love was his wife and family.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Chyrle Oglesby Moore, siblings, Leniece Hickox, Barbara Powell, Bill Moore, Joe Moore and Norma Moore and is survived by daughters, Renee Story (Chuckie) of Byron, Tracie M Hall, of Wadley, son Ricky Moore (Amy) of Louisville, grandsons, C.J. Story (Paige), Chase Moore (Catrina), Layton Hall and Ty Moore, granddaughters, Amber Fee ( Colton York), Katelynn Moore, Breanna Privett (Gabe), Addison Story, Maggie Hall (Malik Riad) great grandchildren, Ellie Fee, Paislee York, Melody Moore, Charles Moore IV, Gavin Story, Jaxson Story, Ryleigh Story, Sophia Story, and Ky'mere Riad, sister and brother in law, Debra & Joe Adams, brother and sister in law, Tim & Sherry Moore, several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
