Rick Garcia Valdez, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, departed this world on September 30, 2025.
Born August 14, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, Rick lived a life colored by his artistic expressions. He was a master painter with a profound love for capturing the beauty that surrounded him in all its forms, be it through music, photography, or paintings of all mediums. He had a deep appreciation for nature, especially the birds and plants that he loved so much.
He possessed the ability to make you laugh, even in the darkest of days. Rick was always there for his loved ones, a steadfast presence within his tight-knit family.
He was the beloved brother of Joe (Linda), Tony (Virginia), Steve (Emelda), Mary, Susan (Fernando), and Beatrice, who will forever cherish the shared memories and joy he brought into their lives. He also leaves behind his cat, Chloe.
Rick's legacy will echo through the hearts of his numerous nieces and nephews who were inspired by his self-reliance, independence, and creativity.
The tapestry of his interests was richly interwoven with a passion for travel, especially to the majestic national parks that showcase the splendor of nature. Each journey fueled his creativity, allowing him to express himself through his art, which stands as a testament to his view of the world-a world filled with color, wonder, and life.
Though Rick has joined his father, Jose Perez Valdez; his beloved mother, Francisca Cantu Garcia; his brother, Samuel Valdez; his uncle, Francisco "Pancho" Garcia; and brother-in-law, Antonio Arreguin, in eternal rest, the echoes of his unwavering love for his family, humor, and the vibrancy of his spirit will remain with us.
He leaves behind family, a circle of friends, and his beautiful art who will carry his memory forward, reminding us of the beauty of life and laughter amidst life's canvas.
In our hearts, Rick Garcia Valdez will live on-an everlasting presence of joy and creativity.
