Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home - Huntsville on Aug. 16, 2024.
Rickey Charles Bailey, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away August 15, 2024, peacefully in his sleep after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Rickey loved to travel, having a job that allowed him to travel the world. Working 25+ years as an Ironworker with Local Union 84 out of Houston, TX where he retired. Working for National Oilwell Varco (NOV) allowed him to see the US, including Dead Horse, Alaska; and other countries such as: China, Egypt, Russia, Columbia, Africa, New Zealand. Being at home wasn't for him, after retirement he chose to return to work part-time at O'Reilly in Huntsville allowing him to run parts around town, meeting new people and making new friends.
Rickey never met a stranger, he loved to talk to anyone who would listen and share stories of his worldly travels.
When he wasn't traveling, he enjoyed hunting, watching softball and showing his grandkids how to work the tractor and lawnmower. He loved doing things with and for his beloved wife, Terry.
Rickey was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Charles Bailey, mother, Ella Irene Jordan and sister Wanda Lynn Bailey.
Rickey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Terry Bailey; his son Christopher Bailey (wife Sunni); his daughters Mary Bailey and Tabetha Winfrey (husband Ross); grandchildren Adam Bogart Jr, Brooklyn Bailey, Rhett Bailey, Alyson Higginbotham, and Hadley Winfrey; his sisters Karen Baker (husband Peawee) and Paula Bailey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
