Rickey Glenn Butler

Rickey (Rick) Glenn Butler, 70, died Friday, August 11, 2023 at his home. Rick was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Oliver Glenn and Mollie Maynor Butler. He is also preceded in death by his sister Susan.
Rick graduated from West Mecklenburg High (1971), Chowan College (1974), Catawba College (1976) and received his Juris Doctorate from Campbell University School of Law (1986). A life long Richard Petty fan, he also enjoyed history, reading biographies, and listening to music. He enjoyed all sports. High school athletic events were his favorite.
Mr. Butler is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delores Gaskins Butler; blessed to call him Dad are Kyle (Jenn) Butler, of Strasburg, VA, Philip (Lindsay) Butler and Anna (Bryson) Butner, all of Hillsborough; being called Papa by Savannah, Alivia, Jackson, Kasen, Elizabeth, Finley and Bennett, always brought him smiles and happiness. Also surviving are his brother, Stan Butler, of Greensboro; his mother-in-law, Ann O. Gaskins, of Fuquay Varina and brother-in-law Rex (Laurie, nephew Daniel) Gaskins, of Iresdale, IL; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held 12:30PM-2PM Monday at Antioch Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 2PM with the Dr. M. David Chambers and Rev. Al Horne officiating. Burial will follow at New Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hillsborough.
