Douglas Leonard Bent

Douglas Leonard Bent, 73, of 949 Oxford Rd., Roxboro, died Friday, March 6, 2026. Born in Albany, NY, Mr. Bent was the son of the late Albert Douglas and Theresa Josephine Gisotti Bent and brother of the late Marie Bent Jansen. Mr. Bent was a retired contractor who later taught construction at both Person and Caswell Campuses of Piedmont Community College. He was a US Air Force Veteran and an avid musician who loved to sing and play the guitar. He participated in several plays with the Roxboro Little Theater. Mr. Bent enjoyed riding motorcycles and really knew how to live life.

Mr. Bent is survived by his son, Christopher Bent; two step-sons, Eli Cook and Eric Cook; his sister, Pauline B. Porterfield; three nephews, Paul Jansen, Tedd Jansen and Chad Jansen; three great-nieces, Meg Jansen, Harley Jansen and Hailey Jansen.

Graveside memorial services will be held 3PM Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Person Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Bent was an organ donor and was the first liver transplant donor attempt at the VA Medical Center in Durham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HonorBridge Fund Development, 909 East Arlington Blvd., Greenville, NC 27858.
