Rickey Lynn Pendergrass, age 62, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025. Born on October 4, 1963, in Lubbock, Texas, Rickey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose life was filled with love and laughter.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife and partner, Lila Rose Garrett Nelson, with whom he shared a remarkable bond until her passing on November 23, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his father, Robert Pendergrass, and his paternal grandparents, Jeff and Juanita Pendergrass, as well as his maternal grandparents, Grady and Mary Bonner. Rickey is survived by his devoted mother, Wanda Pendergrass, and his sister, Vickie Pendergrass.
He was the proud father of two sons, Corey Pendergrass and his wife, Leanne, along with their children, Samuel and Audrina; and Chad Pendergrass and his wife, Amanda, who are blessed with three children: Parker, Maverick, and Collins. He also leaves behind his adored weenie dog, Oscar. Rickey's extended family included Lila's daughter, Mary Slaton, her husband Charles, and her grandsons, David and Josh, from Florida. Additionally, he is survived by Uncle Don Bonner and his wife, Tina Bonner, along with cousins Mark, Gregg, and Brooke. He also shared strong connections with Barbara Hunter, Brandi, Robert, Stacey, and James.
After graduating from Irving High School, Rickey began his career at Davis Crane Service, embracing his roles as an oiler and operator. He worked on major projects throughout the Dallas area, including the construction of DFW International Airport. In later years, he became a self-employed owner of Rick's Powerwash Service, where he treated customers like family and prioritized their satisfaction with every job he undertook. Rickey and Lila cherished their time together at their home in the Lake Holbrook area, where they created precious memories with their family and friends. He held a deep appreciation for the moments spent with his sons, grandchildren, and loved ones, who brought him immeasurable joy. Rickey's warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of his life will be held on January 10, 2026, 11 a.m., at First Christian Church in Mineola, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Rose Hill Community Food Pantry, 110 PR 6882, Mineola, TX, 75773, in honor of Rickey's compassionate spirit.
