Rickey Dean Thrailkill, 75, passed away at his home in Mount Vernon, Illinois on August 28, 2025. Rickey was born on May 21, 1950 in Shawneetown, Illinois to Howard D. Thrailkill and Clairiece (Rudd) Thrailkill. After graduating high school in Shawneetown, Rickey's parents moved their family to Mt. Vernon, IL. Rickey was a private man and often kept to himself. He used to ride his bike all over town. Even in his adult years, you would see him pedaling his bike around the town. That's probably how he stayed in good shape. He also loved his coffee. He would drink coffee day and night. It didn't matter if it were cold outside or in the scorching heat, he had to have his many cups of coffee. Rickey also enjoyed watching old TV shows, eating a big bowl of Frosted Flakes, and eating his sister Joyce's, who he always called "Juice," beans and cornbread. He also loved his many cats. His favorite cat was the three legged one who was as strong and as quick as all the others. Rickey leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Stacey Johnson and Kaira James; 3 grandchildren, Atavia Johnson, Kyree James-Hooper and Zaykyrion James; 2 great grandchildren, Myron Seigart Jr. and Malaysia, Seigart; 3 sisters, Delores McClain, Joyce Jones and Sandy Moore; 1 brother, Anthony Thrailkill; 11 nieces and nephews, Trynesa, Deshawn, Blair, Angie, Takika, Richard, Sharona, Jeremy, Lareese, Derrick and Anthony; and his good friend Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Clairiece Thrailkill; brother, Howard Rudd; 3 brothers-in-law, Jimmy McClain, George Jones and John Moore.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
