Ricky Odell Jay passed away on December 20, 2023 at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, SC. His wife, Mary Louise Jay, his daughter, Julie Hiott Jay (Bobby Martin}, and many of his special beach family were by his side.
Ricky was born in Augusta, GA on December 31, 1952 to Hurbert Cleveland Jay and Ruby Bell Kelly Jay. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 30 years, Mary Louse Jay and daughter, Julie Hiott Jay (Bobby Martin). His brother Jimmy Jay (Sandy) and his sister, Kim Johnson. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Jack Jones, his wife Lynn, 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
If you ever met Ricky, you were immediately one of his friends. He always had something to say that would make you laugh and brighten your day. Ricky truly loved everyone including his Ricky Jay Plumbing customers. He loved all his employees and never failed to tell them. He was so proud of their accomplishments.
One of Ricky’s favorite things to do in North Myrtle Beach was to be with his beach family on Friday afternoon at Deckerz for the RipTide Radio Weekly Countdown Deck Party. He was always cheering on his friends that are artists in the beach music genre. Thank you to so many of the beach music family for staying by his side in his ICU room for hours on the last day. They never left Lou, Julie and Bobby until the end and are still standing by Lou daily. A special thank you to everyone In the Cardiovascular Pulmonary ICU Grand Strand Hospital. They were so compassionate, attentive, kind and loving. They cleared his room for unlimited visitors for as long as necessary.
A memorial service will be held at Thomas Poteet & Son in Augusta, GA on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM and the family will receive visitors at 1:00 PM
