Ricky W. Spring, Jr., age 44, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025.
Ricky was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Patricia Spring, and William J. and Ernestine Lyons; his step-grandmother, Virginia Lyons; his uncles, Frank Spring, Jr. and Kevin Spring; and his aunt, Carol Layne.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 10 years, Brooke Ladner Spring; his beloved son, Chase Spring; his parents, Rick and Jennifer Spring, Sr.; his brother, Steven Spring; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.
A lifelong resident of Ocean Springs, Ricky was known for his adventurous and athletic spirit from a young age. He was a standout basketball player at Ocean Springs High School, graduating in 1998, and continued his athletic career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He later went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Ricky was a boat captain for the Gulf Coast Research Lab, where his love of the water and the outdoors thrived. In his last two occupations he worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding for six years and had spent the past two years with Austal USA under the field of contracts.
As a true outdoorsman, Ricky found peace in nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, boating, or hiking the barrier islands and national park trails, he found great joy. He also loved to be part of coaching or cheering on his son, Chase, in youth sports. He was a proud and honest coach, always offering support and guidance from the sidelines. If he wasn’t obligated to coach, Ricky would be far away from the spotlight but still making sure no flaws were made and critiquing his every move.
Ricky never met a stranger. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and his friendships ran deep and wide.
Ricky understood the importance of faith, being a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and helping guide his son in the Catholic faith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ocean Springs. A reception will follow at the home of Rick and Jennifer Spring, located at 209 Bluff Cove, Ocean Springs, MS 39564. Please feel welcome to attend both events for the celebration of an incredible life that has come to a close.
