Ricky Todd, Sr., affectionately known as Ricky to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Cleveland, OH, on August 4, 2024, at the age of 56. Born on January 25, 1968, Ricky was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, where he spread joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Ricky was preceded in death by his loving father, James Todd, and his brother, Antonio Todd. He is survived by his devoted mother, Annie Todd; his cherished children, Ricky Todd, Jr., Christina and Joshua; his caring brothers, Terry Todd and Michael Todd; his adoring sisters, Kim Todd, Wendy Todd, and Jamee Todd; and his treasured bonus mom, Shirley Levett. Ricky was an adored uncle to his nieces, Ashley, Kylinn, and Yana, and his nephews, Michael Jr., Justin and Kyree.
Ricky was a proud alumnus of Warrensville City Schools and furthered his education at Cuyahoga Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He inherited a strong work ethic from his parents, which he demonstrated through his various entrepreneurial endeavors. Ricky was self-employed with his father at Todd and Sons Moving and Storage, where he honed his skills in logistics and customer service. He also worked as a limousine driver for his father's company and ran his own house painting business. His entrepreneurial spirit was evident as he lent his talents to help his brother Michael and sister, Jamee with their business ventures.
An artist at heart, Ricky enjoyed drawing and was known for his exceptional artistic abilities. His creativity was not limited to paper and canvas; it was a trait that infused every aspect of his life, from problem-solving in business to entertaining his family and friends with his quick wit and humor.
Those who knew Ricky will remember him as a funny, creative, and spirited individual. His laughter was infectious, and his presence brought light and warmth to every room. His ability to find humor in everyday situations reminded everyone around him not to take life too seriously. As the well-known saying by Dr. Seuss goes, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." Ricky lived his life as a testament to this philosophy, cherishing each moment and leaving a legacy of joy and positivity.
As we bid farewell to Ricky, we reflect on a life well-lived and well-loved. He was a beacon of happiness and a true original who will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
We take comfort in knowing that Ricky's spirit will continue to inspire laughter and creativity in our hearts forever. His memory will be cherished, and his life celebrated as an example of how to live fully, love deeply, and laugh often.
Ricky's life will be honored in a ceremony, surrounded by his loved ones. We will hold him in our hearts until we meet again.
"Life is short, and it's up to you to make it sweet." Ricky indeed made his life, and the lives of those around him, exceedingly sweet.
