Rita Black, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 71, in Anderson, South Carolina. Born on August 29, 1954, in Pickens, South Carolina, Rita's life was a testament to the power of selflessness and the enduring strength of family bonds.
Rita's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family. She was the cherished wife of Gene Black. Rita was a nurturing mother to her four children, Chris Black (Misty), Matt Black, Shanna Black, and Anna Black. Her role as a grandmother to Ethan, Alex, Julianna, Marissa, and Preston was one she held dear to her heart, and the time she spent with them was filled with joy and laughter.
Rita's love extended beyond her immediate family to her siblings, Jeff Ellenburg and the late Rachel Woodall and Allen Ellenburg. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength to her family, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
For 38 years, Rita served her community as a dedicated school bus driver, safely transporting generations of children to and from school. She also contributed her time and energy as a teacher's assistant, where her kindness and patience made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students.
Rita's interests reflected her love for the simple pleasures in life. She relished the time spent with her grandchildren, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
