Rita N. Boriin, 91, longtime resident of Chisholm, died Saturday, February 14, 2026, at her home in Chisholm, Minn.

She was born on October 16, 1934, to Joseph and Irene (Martin) Vizenor in Ponsford, Minn. A graduate of Park Rapids High School, Rita enlisted and proudly served her country in the U.S. Air Force. After her time in the military, Rita entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Roy Boriin on October 31, 1958. Together they would raise a family of eight children. A homemaker by trade, Rita enjoyed her family very much, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included bowling and going to the casinos. However, her happy place was spending time at her cabin which was her favorite place to be.

She is survived by her eight children: Paul (Jolene) Boriin, Rochelle (Tim) Perkovich, Robin Sellars, Rhonda (Gary) Buncich, all of Chisholm, MN, Raymi (John) Scipioni, Roxanne (Chris) Campbell, both of Hibbing, MN, Star (Joel) Boriin, Chisholm, MN, and Justin Boriin, Coon Rapids, MN, six sisters, Betty Mahar, White Earth, MN, Wilma Henry, Michigan, Cleo Warren, White Earth, MN, Bernadette McElyea, Indiana, Antoinette Vizenor, White Earth, MN, and Judy Henry, Minneapolis, MN, 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many, many more, great-great-grandchildren, along with her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy Boriin in 1998, a daughter, Rhoda, twin to Rhonda, two brothers, Joseph and Magnus Vizenor, two sons-in-law, Jimmer Sellars and John Perkovich, four grandchildren, Dylan Perkovich, Crystal Sellars, Danielle Sellars, and Jenna Sellars.

Funeral services for Rita will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2026, at Rupp Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The Rev. Fr. Peter Akudugu will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home on Friday. Military Honors will be accorded by the Mid-Range Honor Guard immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home on Friday. A spring interment will be in the Chisholm Cemetery.
