Rita M. Boyer, 82 of Gaylord, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Medilodge. Born October 7, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of John and Ruth (McNaney) Ottney.
On September 19, 1987, Rita married the love of her life, Roy W. Boyer, MD. She spent her life living for the Lord and serving others. For many years she was active in various organizations in the community. Rita served at a state level as well. She had a natural love for water and boating. She was always up for trying anything at least once. Her goal in life was to live a life of integrity. Her greatest pride and joy were raising her children, being a mother and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Therese “Teri” (Jeff) Noeske, Richard Marchese; stepchildren, Brad (Bernadette) Boyer, Bruce (Stephanie) Boyer, Brian (Laura) Boyer, Jennifer (David) Hedlund, Dianna (David) Rose, 14 grandchildren; siblings, Tom (Gerry) Ottney and Carol Sereiko; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Boyer, MD; her parents; her brother, Bob Ottney; her sister, Pat Vaughn and her brother-in-law, Frank Sereiko.
A memorial service will take place 11:00 AM Friday, August 1, 2025, at Gaylord E-Free Church, where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Pastor Scott Distler will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pregnancy Resource Center (She was on the founding board) or made to a charity of choice.
