Rita Moore Carr was born March 29, 1936 in Opelousas, La to the union of her parents, Alfred and Adaline Stelly Moore and passed from this life August 19, 2025 at Haven Nursing Home. Rita loved the Lord, going to church, and singing worship songs. She always enjoyed cooking her famous Cajun Cuisines, which consist of Turtle Sauce Picante, Gumbo, and Sea Food Dressing. Rita also loved her little dog, PeeWee, drinking hot cocoa, making clothes, crocheting, sewing, and quilting.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Robert Vellard, and David Carr; two sons, Jesse Roy Vellard, Roderick Dale Vellard; and a brother Albert Moore. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Vellard; sister-in-law, Emily Moore; grandchildren, Michele Sonnier, Jason Vellard; great-grandchildren, Hunter Sonnier, Molly Sonnier, Brooke Vellard; two great-great-grandchildren; her nephew Peanut Carr and wife Christy who took amazing care of her along with the staff and nurses at Haven Nursing Home.
The family has chosen cremation and services will be held at a later date.
