Rita M. Cunningham, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, at the age of 98 in Hamilton, NJ. Born in 1925, in Trenton, NJ, Rita lived a life marked by gentleness and an unwavering commitment to her faith and family.

Rita (nee DeVaney) was the beloved wife of the late James T. Cunningham, Sr., and a cherished mother to James T. Cunningham, Jr., husband of the late Susan, and Mary Susan Riley, married to John. Her legacy of love continues through her adored grandchildren, Jennifer Froelich, married to Erik, and Sara Holquist, married to Nick. Her treasured great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Marley, and Julian, brought immense joy to her later years.

A devout Catholic, Rita's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. It guided her actions and provided comfort and strength throughout her life. Her gentle spirit was a testament to her deep and abiding belief in kindness and compassion, traits that endeared her to all who knew her.

Rita's life was a tapestry of loving moments, woven with the care she bestowed upon her family and friends. Her kindhearted nature was evident in her every interaction, and her gentle demeanor was a source of calm in the storm of life.

As we bid farewell to Rita, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by an unwavering capacity to love and be loved. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived but for the countless lives she touched with her loving, kind, and gentle soul.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 8:30am - 9:30am at Murphy Funeral Home, 1863 Hamilton Ave, Hamilton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.
