Rita Delgado, 75, of Lubbock, TX, passed away, with her family by her side, on Sunday, February 16, 2025. She was born in Sinton, TX on January 21, 1950, to Casimiro Coronado and Ofilia Rodriguez.
Rita met the love of her life, Julio Delgado, and they married on April 14, 1962, in Lubbock. Julio and Rita have spent 61 years together as a loving husband and wife.
Rita was a good wife and a loving mother. She spent her life devoted to her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She was a woman of patience, getting along with everyone. Rita was always ready to help anyone in need. She was someone you could go to for comfort when feeling sad or hurt. Along with being a caregiver, Rita was a wonderful cook. Her family would all agree she made the best chicken fried steak with all the sides to go along with it!
Those left to honor and cherish Rita’s memory include three sons: Jose Delgado and wife Lori of Woodrow, Juan Delgado and wife Naomi of Lubbock and Julio Delgado, Jr. and wife Kathy of Lubbock; three daughters: Yolanda Delgado of Lubbock, Jasmine Delgado of Lubbock and Esperanza Delgado of Lubbock; sixteen grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchildren; and siblings Mary Vasquez, Ofilia Lovato, and Hector Coronado.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Julio Delgado; her parents; a daughter, Norma Linda Delgado; a grandson, Noah Delgado; and siblings Lupe Coronado, Joe Coronado, and Janie Coronado.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the Venue on Broadway, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 5:00pm.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:00AM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial to immediately follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Julio Delgado, III, Ralph Arroyo, Patrick Ombogo, Jonathan Ybarra, Joe Michael Delgado and Rene Delgado.
