Rita C. Ertl, age 95 of Waite Park, MN died on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at the Sterling Park Health Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday June 6, 2023 at the Church of St. Anthony in Watkins. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed at www.ertlfuneral.com.
Rita Catherine Ertl, the daughter of John and Magdalena (Elenz) Sturm was born in Elrosa, MN on March 6, 1928, the youngest of nine children. She grew up in Belgrade, MN where she received her education. She was united in marriage to Francis “Fritz” Ertl on August 12, 1947 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. They resided in Watkins for many years, where she was an active member of the Church of St. Anthony, before moving to Waite Park. Rita enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, playing cards, keeping up with current events, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a true prayer warrior and will be remembered as a great cook and a perfect housekeeper.
Rita is survived by her children David (Ninfa) Ertl of St. Joseph, Kathy (Mark) Bjorke of St. Joseph, Michael (Melissa) Ertl of St. Joseph, Mark (Martha) Ertl of Minneapolis; four grandchildren Jerry (Jessie) Ramirez, Brandon Ertl, Derek Ertl, and Benjamin Ertl; and great grandchildren Hannah, Leah, and Tyler
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis “Fritz” Ertl; siblings Harold (Maxine) Sturm, Ralph Sturm, Ed (Shirley) Sturm, Bill (Anna Mae) Sturm, Ray (Eleanor) Sturm, Vince (Valeria) Sturm, Lucinda (Art) Blomker and Mildred (Ludwig) Halvorson.
