Rita Elaine Ewers, 91, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at her home. Funeral services will be at Noon, Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at the Boscobel Cemetery, Boscobel, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Rita was born on March 29, 1933, in Boscobel, Wisconsin, the daughter of Verne and Dorothy (Kast) Rice. She was united in marriage to Roger A. Ewers, Sr., on August 25, 1953, in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin. She attended UW-Platteville where she received her master's in education. While Roger was serving in the US Airforce, Rita and Roger moved around quite a bit. After settling in Platteville, she was a teacher and worked with her husband, Roger, as his secretary until he died 1981. Where he ran the State Farm Insurance Agency, Platteville. Rita then worked for the Platteville Public Library until her retirement. She was a member of the Platteville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, playing Yahtzee with her son, Roger Jr., game shows and following the Packers. She especially loved to spend time with her family.
Rita is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rochelle Ewers; granddaughters, Jennifer Busch and Nicole Ruch-Ewers; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Brandon (Kai), Tony (Bailey), Ethan, Nathan, Brittany Craig and Jacen; sister, Verna (Orrel Broadbent) George; brother, Forrest (Velvet) Rice; sisters-in-law, Lola Smith, and Phyllis France; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, Sr., son, Roger, Jr., grandson, Darryl Busch, here parents, nephew, Randy George, brothers-in-law, Larry George, LeRoy Smith, Jim Ewers and Bob France.

Aunt Rita was such a pretty, cheerful aunt who chose nice gifts. My favorite was a hot pink satin pillow case. The Négligée she gave my baby sister when she was born was also delightful.
