Rita Wilson Galen

MONROE TOWNSHIP – RITA WILSON GALEN passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at her residence in Monroe Township. She was 77 years old.
Born in Bronx, NY, to Milton and Bernice (née Perlmutter) Perlman. She was raised in North Brunswick, and then settled down in Monroe Township, New Jersey.
Prior to retiring in 2015, Rita was the Assistant Dean at Rutgers Graduate Business School at Rutgers University for 25 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, going on hiking trips around the country, exercise classes, and being with her grandchildren. She was a volunteer for Open Food Pantry, and Head Start in South Brunswick.
Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Rita leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, boundless kindness and an unyielding spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her. Her warmth, strength, humor and wisdom will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Rita is predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Robert L. Galen, who passed before her in 2023.
Surviving are her sons, Jed Wilson and his wife, Laura, of New Fairfield, CT, Zachary Wilson and his wife, Gretchen, of Ocean; her step-son, Bradley Galen of Marlboro; her step-daughters, Merrie Samilow and her husband, Josh, of Marlboro, Cindy Barry and her husband, Peter, of Los Angeles, CA; her sister, Andrea Colucci of Fletcher, NC; and her grandchildren, Michael (Erica), Madison, Mackenzie, Griffin, Noah, Taylor, Elle, Joshua, Jack, Noah, and Oscar.
A chapel service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 11:45 am at MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, NJ. Interment will follow at Floral Park Cemetery, South Brunswick. For directions, please view our "Events" listed below.
