Rita Heyen, 67, passed away peacefully in her home on January 27, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Craig Heyen; her father, Chet Huffman; her sister, Ronda Taylor; and her brothers, Rusty Huffman and Randy Huffman.
She is survived by her mother, Cotton Adorno; her brothers, Ricky (Carla) Huffman of Greenville, IL, and Robby (Donna) Huffman of Chandlerville, IL; her sisters, Roxana (Matt) Pope of Hannibal, MO, and Renee (Wayne) Butler of Forest City, IL; her daughters, Alisha (Mitchell) Craft of Kinsley, KS, and Sherita Carstensen of Wichita, KS; her son, Dustin Newport of Emporia, KS; and her dear lifelong friend, Debbie Bishop, with whom she remained close since high school. Rita was also blessed with many grandchildren whom she adored.
Rita was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved the outdoors, especially when shared with her late husband, Craig. Together they spent countless days at the lake skiing, fishing, and simply enjoying life. Rita will be remembered for her grace, perseverance, and strength, particularly during life’s more difficult seasons.
May she rest in peace.
