Rita Clare Horse, beloved daughter of Charles and Reva Berkmeyer, passed away November 21st, 2025, in Titusville, Florida. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, October 29th, 1960. As a teenager, she grew up in Orlando, Florida with her father, Charles, brother Bill, grandparents and aunt and uncle. She attended college in Orlando and worked in retail for many years.

Rita married her husband, Matt Horse, in Orlando. They moved to Titusville and felt at home along the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean. They appreciated the natural beauty of the area and delighted in viewing the launches from the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral. They both loved animals and often drove out to the nature reserves near Titusville to observe and listen to the wildlife.

Rita had the natural ability to make others laugh and feel good. When others saw her approaching, they would wave her over to sit with them. She had a warm smile, dancing eyes, and an infectious laugh. She had a kind heart and empathy for others. She and her husband often gave what they had to the less fortunate.

Rita was proud of her Indian heritage which she expressed by singing and dancing at tribal gatherings. She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, Iroquois Confederacy.

Rita is survived by her husband, Matt Horse, who stood by her side, sister Sue Ellen Berkmeyer (Denver), niece Kateri McDonald (AZ), nephew Dan McDonald (NY), niece Eleanor Goombi, as well as cousins in New York state.
