Rita Ann Bloedorn Jaeger October 6, 1923- December 4, 2024
Rita Ann Bloedorn Jaeger, 101, died peacefully in her sleep at home on December 4, 2024. Rita was born on October 6, 1923 at Grant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was the beloved daughter and only child to Walter Francis and Anna Catherine Bloedorn. Raised in Rogers Park on the north side of Chicago, Rita began her education at St. Ignatius grade school. She then attended St. Scholastica High School class of 1941 and went on to graduate from Mundelein College in 1945. Rita met her husband, John Philip Jaeger on a blind date. They were instantly smitten and married in 1950. Having come from small families themselves, the two set out to build what would become a large and loving family. Rita was beloved by all of her children and grandchildren. Always there to proof read your paper, make sure dinner was hot and ready, or lend an ear and give sage advice with a humorous outlook that would leave you feeling uplifted. She and her husband were known for welcoming friends, family (and their dogs) to their lake house. Rita was known for her loyalty to her friends and her dedication and devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview. Rita was always the most interesting and charming person in every room. She was thoughtful, witty, honest, kind, and fun. She was an avid reader, and a life long fan of mystery books as well as a loyal patron of the Glenview Public Library. Rita never met a stranger. She made every day spent with her full of laughs, love, and ease. Her family is proud to call her their matriarch and so thankful for the wonderful life they shared with her. They'll miss her quick wit and honest takes on life. She'll be forever remembered in a nice glass of chardonnay with a bit of ice, a game of rummy, and a chat over a cup of coffee.
Rita was the beloved wife of the late John P. Jaeger, loving mother of Peter (Jacky) Jaeger, Philip Jaeger, James (Margaret) Jaeger, Mary Ann (Guy) Taccona, Susan (John) Keuth, and Gretchen (William) Maloney. Cherished grandmother of Carl Keuth, Maggie (Tim) Nawrocki, Bill Keuth (Vanessa Soto), Jack Lusk, Erin Lusk (Kyle Hargraves), Alison (Riley) Jaeger, MK (Róisín) Maloney, Meg Maloney (Eric Borth), Sean (Avery) Maloney, Amanda (Cody) David, Samantha (John) Peters, and Timothy Jaeger. Doting great grandmother of Frances and Malcolm Hargraves and Gracie David.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 9:15 am until time of the Mass at 10 am, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St, Glenview. Live Stream Link. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, C/O Sr. Paulanne's Needy Family Fund, 1775 Grove St, Glenview, IL 60025 (https://www.givecentral.org/customizable-online-giving/552/event/17531) or the Glenview Public Library, 1930 Glenview Rd, Glenview, IL 60025 (Donate to Library).
