Rita Rae Montgomery

Rita Rae Montgomery of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on December 13, 2024, at 76 years old. She was born on November 30, 1948, to the late James Martin and Helen Louise (Williams) Pickett. Rita was a Registered Nurse at Wishard Memorial Hospital for 25 years prior to retiring. She enjoyed working on craft projects, crocheting, sewing, scrap booking, making doll clothes, was an avid reader, and loved traveling. What she loved the most in her life was being Grandma and spending time with the grandchildren. Rita is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dennis Dale Montgomery, her children, Mikael (Susan) Montgomery, Matthew Montgomery, Melissa (Chad) Hunter, Daniel (Jackie) Montgomery, David (Sarah) Montgomery, Steven Montgomery, her 20 grandchildren, her 17 great grandchildren, and her brothers, James (Wilma) Pickett, Phil (Sara) Pickett, extended family and a host of friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Pickett. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, 4:00pm-6:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with the Funeral Service immediately following at 6:00pm. Flanner Buchanan has been entrusted to provide the cremation arrangements for the family.
