Rita Marie Ramsey Wells, 75, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

She was born on June 22, 1950, in Rockbridge County to the late Willie Anderson Ramsey and Doris Jean Smith Landes.

Rita was known for her big heart, her late-night conversations, and the way she always stayed connected with the people she cared about. She loved her church and her church family deeply and found joy in the friendships she built there.

A devoted music lover, she enjoyed music of all kinds and could often be found with a cup of her favorite Dunkin’ Hot Mocha coffee in hand.

She was a pharmacy technician with Wal-Mart for twenty-eight years, a job she truly enjoyed.

Although she was a “cat person,” her heart quickly expanded when her son and daughter-in-law joined her home with their four dogs, and she grew to love them just as much.

She is survived by her son, James Allen George, II; her daughter-in-law, Tami Marie George; her brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Ramsey; her grandchildren, Heather Brooke George, Brittany George Floyd and her husband, Tim, Courtney George Cash and her husband, Justin, Tyler Joseph Nicholas George and his wife, Luisa, and Mackenzie Marie George; and her great grandchildren, Sayler Jean, David Joseph, Rowen Matthew, and Charlee Olivet Cash.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Janet Delores Ramsey Bowyer; her stepfather, Harold Joseph Landes, Sr.; and her sister-in-law, Brenda George Ramsey.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Good News Ministries in Staunton with Pastor Wanda Myers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM.

Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Henry Funeral Home (P.O. Box 1076, Staunton, Virginia 24402).
