It is with extreme sadness that River Ledbetter, age 25, of Dallas, Georgia passed away and left this life for a new one in Heaven. On June 21, 2024, River passed away in a boating accident on a river in St. Augustine, Florida. Incidentally, he was doing one of the things he enjoyed most at the time of his passing. River enjoyed anything outdoors, hunting, fishing, being on the water, spending time in the gym, and hanging out with friends and family.
River grew up playing football, baseball, and lacrosse through high school and is a graduate of East Paulding High School. From there, River played lacrosse at Shorter University on a scholarship. After college, River worked for Stanton Electric and was working toward getting his journeyman's license.
River was an amazing young man with a heart of gold. A man of faith and love for God. He loved animals. He had a strong work ethic, good looks, a lot of charisma, and an awesome smile. And let's not forget how his humor made us all laugh in every situation.
River, you may never know how many lives you have touched or inspired but do know this, you are loved more than anyone can imagine, and you will be extremely missed. God has called you home and your work on this earth is done.
Rest in Peace my son. You will never be forgotten.
River is survived by his dad and mom, Ricky and Terri Ledbetter, of Dallas, Georgia; two brothers, Hunter and Tanner Ledbetter, of Dallas, Georgia; grandmother, Doris Ledbetter of Franklin, North Carolina; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services for River will be held at Sam Clark Chapel on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
Following the service, a Celebration of Life for River will be held at 3633 Gulledge Road Dallas, Georgia at 3:00 PM. Please use the entrance with the gate at the powerlines and park at the top of the hill.
If you feel led, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made towards "Outdoor Dream Foundation" or "Kids Can Fish" in River's honor.
