Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Oak Harbor ChapelRobbie Lee Hughes, Jr., 78, of Graytown, OH gained his wings on August 11, 2025. He was born in the US Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL to Robbie Lee Sr. and Irene Mary (Eckerle) Hughes on June 10, 1947. He married Cheryl Lynne (Harder) Grosjean on October 21, 1972.
Robbie loved fishing, watching movies from his endless DVD collection, and spending time with his family and friends. Above all, he loved his country. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army from February 1968 to July 1973. He received the Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces during the period February 1968 to February 1969 in the Republic of Vietnam. He also served in the United States National Guard until December 1987 and the United States Army Reserves until December 1995. Robbie was a certified electrician for many years at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, OH and became a Lowe’s Pro electrician in Fremont, OH until his retirement.
Robbie is preceded in death by his parents, Robbie Sr. & Irene; daughter Catrice; sister Dottie; and grandsons Anthony Wadsworth and Joshua Avery. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Cheryl Hughes of Graytown; his brother George (Deb) Hughes of Orrville, OH; his sister, Jeannie (Gary) Vicknair of LaPlace, LA; daughters: Vickie Avery (Dennis Matheny) of Oak Harbor, Michelle Harris of Port Clinton, and Janice Hughes of Pineville, LA; son Danny (Davina) Marvel of Oregon, OH; granddaughters: Allison Avery of Graytown, Kassidy (Michael) Zink and Madison (Kevin) Flores of AZ, Bailey Marvel of Oregon; grandsons: Justin (Denise) Avery of Fremont, Robbie Wadsworth of Port Clinton and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1-5pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. Memorial Contributions may be given to Elara Caring Hospice Foundation, 209 E. Washington Ave Suite 450, Jackson, MI 49201, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1700 N. Walker St., Graytown, OH 43432, or a charity of the Donor’s Choice.
