Robert L Adkins Jr.

Robert L. Adkins Jr., 60, of Ormond-by-the-Sea, Florida, formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away tragically on May 23, 2025. A man of immense strength, fierce loyalty, and a laugh that filled every room, Robert roared through life and lived it full throttle.
A proud Navy veteran, Robert served his country with honor for more than three decades.
Enlisting in the United States Navy on December 19, 1984, he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He completed his active-duty service in 2005 and continued his commitment to the Navy Reserve until January 1, 2015. His leadership, resilience, and deep pride in his service left a lasting impact on all who served with him.
During his distinguished military career, Bob was stationed on several notable ships and installations, including the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2), Arthur W. Radford (DD-968), and USS Leyte Gulf (CG-55). He also served at Naval Air Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine; Aegis Training and Readiness Center (ATRC), Detachment Norfolk; and Afloat Training Group (ATG), Norfolk. Upon retiring from active duty, Bob continued his commitment to the military by serving in a civilian capacity with the Marine Corps Systems Command.
Robert's passions were as bold as his personality-motorcycles, hunting, fishing, golf, and above all, time with family and friends. He adored being "Papa" to his grandsons Landen and Elijah Banaag and lived for moments spent making them laugh. His presence was unforgettable-his hugs were real, his laugh was loud, and his loyalty unwavering. He would give the shirt off his back and always showed up when it mattered.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Stacey Adkins; daughter Andrea Banaag; stepsons Blake, Jared, and Cameron Zengo; grandsons Landen and Elijah Banaag; mother Gloria Gregory; stepmother Diana Adkins; sister Kathy Adkins; brothers Kyle Adkins, Jason Weeks, and Jerry Weeks; and the mother of his daughter, Kristen Adkins. His loyal dogs continue to wait faithfully for him at the door.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Adkins Sr.; grandparents Thurmond and Reva Adkins; brother Bart Adkins; and granddaughter Annabella Banaag.
Robert is also mourned by countless friends, shipmates, and fellow veterans who were honored to call him brother, with each one lucky to have shared his journey.
