Rodney Bernard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dale Woodward Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - Daytona Beach on Feb. 13, 2026.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rodney Daniel Bernard, a loving husband, father, and cherished family man, who left us far too soon on January 27th, 2026. Born in Trinidad and Tobago on February 13th, 1971, Rodney's life was a testament to love, laughter, and kindness.

He is the beloved son of Patricia Sooknanan and the late Daniel Bernard, and leaves behind a grieving family that includes his loving wife, Johanny, his daughters, Janiela and Sagzan, his son, Daniel, and his granddaughters, Skye and Serenity, as well as a brother, a sister, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Rodney was a force to be reckoned with - loud, commanding, and unapologetically himself. He was a true family man, with a heart of gold and a love for his daughters that knew no bounds. His friends knew they could count on him to go above and beyond, and he would do the same for family or a stranger.

He was a well-rounded individual who excelled in academics, particularly in mechanics and engineering, where his knowledge was unparalleled - he could fix anything, and often did, with ease. He was an avid sports enthusiast and also cherished the time he spent working alongside his father and friends throughout the years.

The kitchen was his happy place, where he would whip up feasts fit for a king, drawing from his vast repertoire of recipes and Caribbean heritage. Whether it was a traditional Trini curry or one of his recipes, Rodney's cooking was always a labor of love.

He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Bernard, and his brother, Roger Bernard. Though Rodney lost his battle with cancer, he won at life - leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the memories of a life well-lived.

Memorial services will be held on February 3rd at Dale Woodward Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. for friends and family. The family would like to thank everyone for their condolences. Rest in peace, dear Rodney.

After years of hard work Rodney finally settled down in Daytona Beach Florida where he started to raise his family making wonderful memories by the beach. He will truly be missed.
