Thomas Phillips Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dale Woodward Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - Daytona Beach on Feb. 11, 2026.
Thomas "Eddie" Phillips, 69, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2026.

Born on April 13, 1956, in Swartz, Michigan, Eddie was the son of Lionel and Lauralee (Manchester) Phillips. He graduated from Swartz High School, where he excelled in track and earned the nickname "Fast Eddie," a name that stayed with him throughout his life.

After high school, Eddie traveled, building silos before settling in Palm Coast in 1979. He worked for Whitteman for many years, building kegs for Budweiser, and later continued his career in construction until the time of his passing.

A proud and active member of the Palm Coast community, Eddie belonged to Elks Lodge #2709, Club 51, the Eagles, and several other local organizations. He built lasting friendships wherever he went.

Eddie had a deep love for sports. He was a devoted Jacksonville Jaguars fan and held 50-yard-line season tickets since the team's inaugural season. He also enjoyed baseball, softball-winning many trophies during his playing years-and later gave back to the sport by serving as an umpire for many years. He was also an avid NASCAR enthusiast.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lannie Phillips; and his niece, Barbara Jean.

Known to many as "Grandpa Eddie," he was deeply loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Courtney (Derrick) North of Seville and Ryan (Kristi) Phillips of Palm Coast; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brother, Roger Phillips of Genesee, Michigan; his sister, Connie (Robert) Wilke of Flushing, Michigan; as well as many nieces, nephew, and cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, at Palm Coast Elks Lodge #2709, 53 Old Kings Road, Palm Coast, Florida 32137.

Arrangements are entrusted to Woodward Cremation & Funeral Services.
