Robert "Bob" Aljets, 83, of Harvey, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey.
Funeral services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church of Harvey on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey.
The burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery of Harvey.
Bob was born on September 8, 1940, in Carrington. He was the son of George and Dorothy (Schaak) Aljets. He grew up and attended school in Carrington and graduated from Carrington High School in 1959. Bob married Connie Buskness on June 30, 1959, in Carrington. They made their home in Carrington. Bob managed a Farmer Union Fertilizer Plant in Carrington. Bob and Connie moved to Harvey in 1975 where he managed A&E Anhydrous Plant in Harvey for several years and continued as manager when it was purchased by the Harvey Farmers Union. In 1981 he began working for Helm Flying as the manager, retiring in 2006. Bob also farmed near Harvey. He received many safety awards over the years. Connie died on March 3, 2015.
Bob enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, going to the casino, and playing cards. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Wells Eagles Arie 3080, Peaceful Valley Golf Course, he served on the Harvey Airport Authority, and the Harvey Fire Department all of Harvey.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Julie (Gary Gumeringer) Rosendahl of Esmond; sons, Mike (Marlys) Aljets, of Harvey, Steve (Teresa) Aljets of Harvey, Jason (Andschana) Aljets of Calhan, CO; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Kay) Aljets of Carrington, Ron (Patricia) Aljets of Prescott, Arizona, Tom (Laurie) Aljets of Carrington; sisters, Connie (Joel) Fisher of Makoti, ND, Joan (Butch) Petrick of Makoti, ND, Shirley (Christopher) Charles of Carrington. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie; granddaughter, Angela; son, Roger Aljets, brother, Frank.
