Robert "Bob" Wells Allbright, 74, of Georgetown, TX, died on Monday, September 30, 2024.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Mickey, brothers-in-law George Wildrick, Curtis Foulkes, Craig Foulkes and niece Jordan.
Bob was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on May 29, 1950 to Jean & Mickey Allbright and is the proud older brother to Teri & Stacey.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 20 years, Cate (née Burich) Allbright.
Bob's dad was a career army officer, so the family moved often and one of the moves was for a 3-year assignment in Vicenza, Italy. Living in Italy was a major event in Bob's young life as it created a desire for travel and international work.
Another major event was when Bob's high school, the Austin Reagan Raiders, won the state football championship, 20-19 over Abilene Cooper. Bob was in the band. During his senior year of high school, Bob applied for an appointment, and was accepted to the US Military Academy at West Point in New York and graduated in May, 1972.
Bob married Barbara Gibson and had two children, Kelly and Robbie. Kelly was born in Vicenza, Italy at the same hospital where Bob's sister, Stacey had been born. Robbie was born in Fort Sill where Bob and his sister, Teri had been born. Barbara and Bob divorced in 1978. Bob had a daughter, Eve, born in 1979. Bob later married Donna Murphy and had two daughters, Taylor & Landry. Bob and Donna divorced and in 2005, Bob married his loving wife, Cate Burich. This marriage brought two step-sons, Brett & Ben, into his life. Bob later adopted Ben and this combined group of 7 adult children has produced 24 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Bob's professional life included the first 100 percent score on an annual training test for a 175 millimeter gun field artillery unit in Germany in the previous seven years. This led him to be accepted into a newly formed airborne battalion combat team in Italy. When he left the army he began a career in commercial real estate in 1977, joining Texas Commerce Bancshares in Houston. He participated in the leasing team of several of Houston's downtown office buildings. In 1985, Bob met Stuart Shaw and joined Bonner Carrington, an Austin based developer. From there came his business success with the emergence of downtown Austin, as a place to live, work and play. Collaborating with the newly elected Mayor, Kirk Watson, in 1997, Bob was very successful working with the City of Austin. During this time, one of their buildings caught fire and Bob was interviewed on live television saying, "Since we were the owners of the building and there was no insurance, we were planning to tear it down anyways." Bob, along with Stuart and Bonner Carrington, and John and Jeff Wooley were able to partner with the Mayor and the City of Austin to help develop downtown Austin, bringing urban retail to Austin.
Once that downtown Austin project was conceptually finished in 2001, Bob changed careers to international business consulting and began working with JMJ Associates. He worked throughout the United States, Europe and South America with leading companies such as: Chevron, BP, Shell, Eco Petrol, Skafanfaa, Bovis Lend Lease and Boeing, among many others. Through Bob's work (and of course, the work of many others) JMJ grew and a 51% interest was sold to a private British equity firm in 2013. Bob then returned to commercial real estate and multi-family development, working closely with his longtime friend and partner, Stuart Shaw. Bob's nearly 40 year friendship with Stuart is one of the strong bonds that Bob had in his life, for which he is most blessed.
Bob and Stuart, along with the rest of the Bonner Carrington team, developed a 292 unit apartment home community in Dripping Springs which eventually sold for a price equivalent of $90 million dollars. Development then began on the Kelsey in Scofield Farms in Austin, along with other pending projects in Pflugerville and other locations in Austin and the DFW metroplex.
In September, 2023, Bob experienced convulsions at The Grove Church which turned out to be a Glioblastoma brain tumor, an aggressive incurable form of cancer. Bob had brain surgery to remove the tumor followed by radiation and chemo treatments but the tumor returned in May, 2024.
Bob's wife, Cate, led him back to his faith walk when they married in 2005 and is the best thing that ever happened to him. They enjoyed many wonderful memories and amazing adventures together. He passed away peacefully and is so grateful for the love and support of his dear wife, Cate, his children and the rest of his family. Bob had a direct encounter with the Holy Spirit shortly after his diagnosis where he heard the Spirit tell him we are going to use your brokenness to heal your body, soul and family. His quote before his death was, "I am going out with very little brokenness".
In addition to being survived by his loving wife, Cate, he is survived by his children, Kelly (Eddie Cano) Allbright, Robbie (Liz) Allbright, Eve (Matt) Nelson, Taylor (Sammy Rihawi) Allbright, Landry Allbright, Brett (Leslie) Burich and Ben Burich: grandchildren, Kasia, Kelsea (Jeremy), Zachary, Brandon, Emily, Timothy, Avery, Barbara, James, Samuel, Leo, Mary, Blaise, Claire, Natalie, Paul, Russ, Katarina, Zoe, Jessica (Paul), Julia (Garret), Joshua, Johnny and Selah. great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Braylen, Meadow & Lyla.
He is further survived by his sisters, Teri Wildrick and Stacey (Ted) Lyons and his sister-in-law, Cindy Foulkes and many nephews & nieces. He is further survived by his extended family, friends, and West Point classmates.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory can be directed to The Grove Church in Liberty Hill, TX or to the West Point Association of Graduates Class of 1972 Fund.
Honored to serve as pallbearers include: Brett Burich, Ben Burich, Joshua Burich, Robbie Allbright, James Allbright, and Zachary Bridges. Honorary pallbearers include: Stuart Shaw, Eddie Cano, Dick Hoover, and Larry Baltezore.
A time of Visitation will be held from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at The Grove Church. The Funeral Service celebrating Bob and honoring God will begin at 1:30 p.m. The family invites you to join them following the service for a Reception in the Reception Area at The Grove Church.
Capt. Allbright will be laid to rest at West Point Cemetery, in West Point, New York, at a later date.

Y'all bought the house across the cul de sac from us. I walked over with a bottle of wine to introduce myself. You became my friend forever. You were a giant among men, Bob, and you made me a better person.
