Robert W. Amundson, 77, of Kingston died Sunday, September 7, 2025.

He was born in Newburgh, a son of the late Harold Edward and Lorraine Maria McCann Amundson. Bob proudly served in the US Navy. He received an MBA from Marist College, class of '77. For over 25 years he was a Professor of Business and Economics at SUNY Ulster.

An avid golfer, Bob, belonged to the Rondout Country Club and Rip Van Winkle Country Club. On August 12, 2012, he hit a hole-in-one at Rondout.

Bob was strong in his faith and participation at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at Immaculate Conception Church. A man who loved dancing, Bob was devoted to his family.

Loving husband of Marie DeCicco Amundson, father of Michael McCloskey (Pamela) of Saugerties and Karen McCloskey Hoban (Keith) of Kingston; brother of Harold Richard Amundson of Wappingers Falls; grandfather of Jared and Brady Hoban, and Sarah McCloskey; uncle to several nieces and nephews and his favorite loyal companion, Mickey (Bob's black lab retriever.)

Friends will be received at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, 27 Smith Ave., Kingston on Wednesday, September 10th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. A procession will form at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:00 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the following organizations in memory of Bob: The Heart Center at Boston Children's Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Robert J. Gaus, Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home.
