On March 20, 2024, Robert "Bob" Clyde Bailey passed away peacefully at the age of 84. He was a member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany, Indiana.
On June 30, 1939, Bob was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Claude and Anna Bailey. He attended and, in 1959, received his diploma from, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a drafting engineer at Anchor Hocking and met Susan Ferris in early 1961. He married Susan December 2, 1961. They had Kenneth Allen, December 30, 1963 and Kim Andrea, March 13, 1965.
Bob was a member of several Drum & Bugle Corps in Baltimore. He began in Company C Boys Brigade, Silverliners and Yankee Rebels. Bob served in the Army and Reserves starting in 1962 for six years.
He has written of his many escapades and adventures and would often recount them to anyone he could. He was a good storyteller and overall speaker. In 1971, God called him to the ministry. He left Baltimore and family to go to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. The family followed in January, 1972. Bob served in Prospect Baptist Church and Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville while in Seminary; Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida; back to Walnut Street in 1979; pastored Clifton Baptist Church in 1989 and became Director of Missions at the Southeastern Indiana Baptist Association in 1993 until his retirement in 2006.
Bob was a volunteer chaplain for several Louisville sports teams. His longest tenure was 37 seasons with the Louisville Bats Baseball Team.
Bob was the very best husband, father, and grandfather who ever lived. He always gave God credit for anything positive in his life. He loved Susan, Kenny and Kim and his entire family and always put them first. His happy and jovial manner was his trademark.
He is survived by wife Susan, son Kenny (Angie), granddaughters Anna, Sarah, Emma, daughter Kim Moore (Sam), brother Stu (Jackie), and sister-in-law Evelyn Gardner, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
