Robert "Bob" Dean Baird, son of Bill and Walene Baird, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Bob was born in Warrensburg, MO on April 13, 1947. He grew up in Calhoun where he graduated high school in 1965. He excelled as an athlete in basketball and baseball. Following high school, he returned to Warrensburg to attend Central Missouri State University, then attended Draughons College in Kansas City leading to a degree in Drafting.
His working career began in Northern Minnesota as a pipeline welder. However, coal mining became his calling. Mining brought him to Oklahoma, Arizona, Wyoming, and back to Missouri. Advancements in his career eventually led to Bob being a Supervisor of Operations. It was also during his early career days he developed a fondness for fast cars. When Missouri's Associated Electric Cooperative coal mine closed, he worked for a while in Macon at Recycle Rubber before returning to the mining industry as a member of a blasting crew in rock quarries.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; children, Beau (Jennifer), Leah (Richie), and Lynn; step-son, Ryan; grandchildren, Skylar, Sydney (Lane), Sara (Martin), ShyAnne (Pete), Sheldon, Bailey (Grant), and Austen (Jordan); great grandchildren, Ava Sue, Colter, Emery, Avery, Carter, Xavier, Xander, and Ezra; brother-in-law, Bill Spring; and extended family members.
Gathering with family and friends will be 5:00 pm, Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Bethlehem Methodist Church on PP Highway in Macon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO.
