Robert Baker III Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2026.
Robert (Bob) Baker, a longtime resident of Ridgefield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on January 25, 1945, in Stamford, Connecticut, to the late Robert and Ellen Patricia Baker. He grew up in Stamford and attended Iona Preparatory School before continuing his education at Southern Connecticut State University. Following college, Bob proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1968 to 1973.

Bob dedicated 35 years to teaching middle school science, shaping the lives of countless students through his steady guidance and genuine love of learning. It was during his teaching career that he met his wife, Maryellen, who was then an English teacher at the same school. They were married in August 1977 on Nantucket Island, a place Bob held dear and returned to often for cherished family vacations.

Bob and Maryellen made their home in Ridgefield, where they raised their three children. Together, they owned and operated Ridgefield Driving School for over 30 years, providing an important service to the local community. Alongside his professional commitments, Bob was a devoted and tireless supporter of his children's athletic pursuits-sometimes as a coach and always as a constant presence-attending countless games and tournaments.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Maryellen; their three children, Robert, Brianne, and Nicole; and his four cherished grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. Family was Bob's greatest accomplishment and his deepest source of pride.

Bob was a man who could not help but be himself-direct, honest, and deeply grounded in his values. He lived with integrity, kept his word, and showed his love through steadfast presence and purpose. His legacy lives on through his family and the principles by which he lived.
