Robert R. Bankard, of Cherry Hill, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Riderwood, Maryland, to the late Roy and Katherine (née Sharrer) Bankard, Robert lived a full and meaningful life devoted to family, service, and community.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara (née Tyler) for 67 years; the loving father of Robert Jr. (Jennifer McClain), Lori Caruso (Dan), and the late Diana Lee Kapelus; and the cherished Pop Pop of Nicole Golden (Scott), Justin DeLeo, Logan Caruso, and Marcella Caruso. He was also the proud Great Pop Pop of Penelope and Desmond Golden.
Robert was the dear brother of Elizabeth Smith, and was predeceased by siblings Thomas Bankard, Margaret Bratton, and Barbara Bankard. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A proud United States Marine, Robert went on to work as a banker for many years, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike with his integrity and dedication.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, October 23rd, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church of Medford, 2 Hartford Road, Medford, NJ. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
