Robert "Bob" Baune of Plummer, MN passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Plummer.
Funeral service for Bob will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday November 18, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer with Jonathan Dodson officiating, a luncheon and cards will be held at the Plummer City Hall following the service. Burial will be held at a later date at Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau, ND.
Visitation will be held on Monday November 17, 2025 starting at 5:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Robert "Bob" Norman Baune was born July 10, 1949 in Bottineau, ND son of Norman and Shirley (Froseth) Baune. He had his first open heart surgery January 27, 1961 at the University in Denver, CO. Bob was the second person to be placed on the heart lung bypass machine. The family lived on a farm near Willow City, ND for a time before moving to Newcastle, WY where he attended rural school in the oil fields and later attended high school in Newcastle. They moved to Plummer, MN in 1966 where he graduated from High School, class of 1967.
He moved back to Newcastle where he worked as a logger and on several ranches. He moved back to Minnesota where he worked as a truck driver for Hartz Foods, and as a forklift operator in the warehouse. Bob purchased a farm South of Thief River Falls where he resided until his health declined and moved into Plummer. He then moved to bus driving which turned into owning and operating with his daughter their own charter bus company "Lake Country Tours," retiring due to health reasons in 2012.
Bob enjoyed playing cards, working on cars, demo derby cars, race cars, breeding, breaking and training race horses, most of all he loved and cherished the time spent with his family and friends. He was never one to miss a joke; he will be remembered for his quick wit and warm hugs.
Bob is survived by children Kelley (Jarrod) Larson of Plummer, MN, Paul Helgeland of Deer River, MN, Chad Helgeland of Roseau, MN; grandchildren Jayden Iverson, Katlin (Tim) Schaefer, Tristan Larson, Alicia Helgeland, PJ Helgeland, Christopher (Emily) Appicelli, Elizabeth Coad, Grant Helgeland, Gavin Helgeland; great-granddaughter Emersyn Schaefer and another one any day, Taylor, Amelia and Jacob Coad, Luke and Rosemary Appicelli: siblings Sharon (Dan) Seibel, Sandy (Mike) Greenwald, Byron (Rich) Baune, Jim (Jan) Baune, Joyce (Jim) Carlson; along with several nieces and nephews; best friends and brothers since High School Ray & Duane Walter.
He is preceded in death by son Keith Robert Baune, parents Norman and Shirley Baune, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
